Naula on The Fertility Podcast

One of my favorite things to do during my long walks at the beach is to listen to podcasts. That ocean view requires great storytelling in the background. The Glue produced its first podcast series last summer with Los Angeles Metro: Off Peak. Off Peak played a huge role on my walks last year. It explores the rich history and future of rails, bus, cycling, walking and all manner of getting around LA. Towards the end of that project we launched Naula on iTunes.

Naula is also The Glue’s first product. It is a fertility tracker app that I wish I had when I went through IVF myself and the reason why we made Naula. Obviously the subject was high on my podcast list. On my search for all things fertility I came across The Fertility Podcast.

Natalie has worked in radio for over 20 years. In 2014 after going through IVF herself she started the Fertility Podcast. Along with producing The Fertility Podcast she also creates audio content for the fertility industry. In 2016, she worked with Access Fertility to visit all of their clinics around the UK to give potential patients insight into what it would be like to go to one of their clinics.

Natalie lives in Manchester, England with her husband and son Phoenix, born in March 2015 after fertility treatments. We re-connected over Skype last week.

It was the first time I spoke with Natalie. She has a beautiful English accent and an amazing radio voice. It is polished, assertive and on top of that, she is also an expert on the topic.

At first I thought we were going to chat for a bit, she was going to take some notes maybe record a test. I was wrong. We were actually recording  a segment for her podcast! Natalie asked me where I was sitting and very naively I said I was in front of my computer in my home office sitting on my chair. Natalie really wanted me to tell her was that I was speaking via my computer mic. She politely asked me to plug in my headphones, that is when I started sweating. For some reason I got really nervous. I have written about my experience a few times now. I was interviewed once for the Art of Infertility Project archives. Maybe this was the thing that made it more real after all.

You can listen to the latest podcast on iTunes or The Fertility Podcast Website – Episode 78: Grab your phone we are talking apps. It features the latest and greatest fertility treatment tracker (IVF, IUI, FET, Surrogacy, Egg Freezing, Egg Donation) and ovulation apps. We are proud to be part of of that list with OvuSence and Ovulation Calculator, both apps predict ovulation date.
